Findlay Ohio:
- John's hometown from 1990 - 2016
- Lauren's college town from 2009 - 2015

Purpose of this stop: To finish packing up and cleaning John's house, visit friends and family, eat and drink at our favorite places.

Restaurants eaten at: Wilson's Sandwich Shop, Archie's, Dietsch Brothers, Tokyo Steakhouse, Mi Tequila, and George House.

George House is the coffee shop across from campus.  I spent more time here than I did anywhere else while I was in pharmacy school, so it was only fitting that I make one last stop.  A true George House stop requires a tea, a pistachio muffin and some type of computer work.  I made sure I had all of these things by using the morning to catch up on emails.  I also added a breakfast sandwich for good measure :)

We spent the majority of our weekend cleaning, but by Sunday afternoon Tink decided she needed a break.
The first of 2 ice cream shops, a late night Archie's run was a must.  Archie's is within walking distance of campus and is the best corner ice cream shop in town (and there are quite a few in Findlay).  They have a little bit of everything, but I find soft serve vanilla covered in sprinkles is always a safe bet.

It's a good thing ice cream is my favorite food because this weekend required 2 ice cream shops.  Dietsch Brothers is a Findlay tradition with two different stores in town.  In addition to their homemade ice cream they also have insanely good chocolates.
For our Dietsch Brothers stop John made sure to get his go-to Chocolate and Peanut Butter and I opted for the Chocolate Covered Pretzel because they make it with their chocolate covered pretzels which are amazing.

Dietsch Brothers has a map on their wall where people not from Findlay can 'pin' their location.  We checked today and no one has pinned Woodland, CA yet.  When we come back to visit we will make sure to put a pin there.
We made sure to see family while in town.  We had a great time hanging out with John's sister Rachel, her husband Justin
and son Marshall.

In pharmacy school Kirsten and I would always wrap up finals week, or any stressful week with dinner and drinks at Mi Tequila.  We tried other Mexican restaurants in town, but none of them had the perfect combination of great margaritas, and good food that Mi Tequila provided.  We hadn't been there since graduation weekend so dinner there was definitely in order.
While cleaning and packing we found these old French Doors in the garage.  They were likely in this house at one point.  Since the house was owned by John's grandparents it has some sentimental value and is hard to say goodbye to.  We decided the doors were pretty cool and that we would clean them up, take them with us, and set them up like barn doors in the doorway to our master bath.

I just had to snap this picture as proof that men can sometimes read directions.  Despite our best efforts we were just a little short of space to fit the animals and everything that needs to go to CA in the car, so we decided to find a roof top carrier.  This seemed like a pretty straight forward endeavor until we realized that my SUV doesn't have a roof rack.  This greatly limited our selection, but we did find one that would work.  When we started the process of figuring out how to attach it we couldn't believe how simple it really was.  However, we didn't trust the straps it came with so decided to get a ratchet strap.  That proved almost too difficult for us to master as it took close to an hour to figure out how to make it work.  Pictures to come once it's on the roof.
For our first date, John took me to a hibachi grill called Tokyo Steakhouse.  We then went there on the night that he proposed so of course it had to be on our 'must eat at' list.

For our first date, after dinner at Tokyo Steakhouse, we went for a walk at one of the parks in Findlay.  We did this again on the night John proposed.  After we walked for awhile he proposed on an old metal bridge which we now refer to as the 'proposal bridge'.  We had to make sure to take a selfie with the bridge before leaving town.

We had talked about using the car to advertise our blog, but we hadn't really committed to it yet.  Then while John was trying to decide on additional straps for our roof top container, I found purple window chalk and decided it was meant to be.  We have now become a driving advertisement for ourselves -- oh my

Well, it's been fun Findlay.  We are wrapping up our stay here with Fireworks which are located such that John's backyard is the perfect viewing location.  Our next stop is PA, which has ponies!!
